Jack Trax 2, May 2022
Ah, the good old days ... here's another sequel - a fistful of late 1980s tunes from the dawn of House Music. Featured on this mix are some of the first records I bought as the House wave hit the UK. "Bass" by Simon Harris was one of the earliest releases on ffrr Records. Other stand out tracks are "Nothing" by Frazier Chorus, "Tired of Getting Pushed Around" by 2 Men, a Drum Machine and a Trumpet, and "The Warning" by Logic. The three tracks by If I've had on vinyl since they came out, but never really listened to them until now - they're actually pretty good.

Disco Effect 1, May 2022
Just when you think you've run out of disco-influenced house music, you unearth another motherlode... This mix features no less that three Doug Willis tunes, a couple of Gustos and one from The Bucketheads (aka MAW) ... no, the other one, "Got Myself Together". Normally, I'd save the Bah Samba stuff for one of my latin mixes, but the track here, "Let the Drums Speak", is far more disco than samba. It's the sound of summer - we just need the weather. Now all I have to do is to figure out how to make my new iPhone play my mixes without annoying gaps between the tracks.

Jazz in the House 4, May 2022
Back for a fourth voiume ... more jazzy house tunes, compiled just in time for a recent drive to Scotland and back. Particularly cool on this volume is the Julius Papp track, "The Deep", which samples the classic Grace Jones track "I've Seen that Face Before", which in turn references the 1974 composition, "Libertango", by Astor Piazzolla. The mix also includes the always-welcome Aqua Bassino, a wonderful Deep Swing presentation, "Steppin' Out" and more cool tunes from EBE, Criminal Element and The Harry Morse Project. Expect a Volume 5 before too long.
